The Pilgramage began in 1960 as a Christian witness for peace. All are welcome to join the Pilgrimage, symbolic of the journey of Mary and Joseph. In the 10-mile trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and in the rally, we seek to reflect the non-violent life of Jesus Christ and his truth of forgiving love. Walk with your family and friends and make new friends with others who seek a more peaceful world. Pilgrimage participants meet in Bethlehem before 10:45 AM where buses transport them to Nazareth Moravian Church. The Pilgrimage follows PA #191 and people may join at any point along the way; support vehicles assist those not able to walk the entire way. Pilgrims arrive back in Bethlehem, around 5:30 for a light meal and to hear this year's speaker, Rev. Kelly Denton- Borhaug, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Chair of Religious Studies at Moravian College. She is the author of the newly released U.S. War-culture, Sacrifice and Salvation, London, Great Britain: Equinox, Sept. 2011. |
